Essential Functions
- Security officers provide security services to clients through constant patrol and
surveillance of their property. This is accomplished by locking and checking
the security of doors, windows, gates and other enclosed or restricted areas
either during and/or after business hours.
- 4 to 12 hour shifts can be expected which includes 90% of the officer's time on active
foot patrol. Vehicle patrol is location and position specific and is only done when it
is part of the client's contract and in a company issue vehicle. Use of 4x4 and 4x2
pickups, cars, golf carts and bicycles may be encountered as part of individual site duties.
- Officers will be in constant contact with Clients, customers, the public, co-workers
and supervisors. Good communication skills, diversity skills and problem solving skills are
a must.
- Security officers may conduct arrests of suspects in criminal activity and have frequent
contact, both verbal and physical, with persons that are disorderly, mentally or
emotionally disturbed, intoxicated, possibly violent, unclean and uncooperative.
- Officers must work well under direct and indirect supervision and in an organized
environment, which is based upon a military chain of command system.
Non-essential Functions
- Some officers may be required to complete and/or assist in some administrative duties, such
as operation of photocopiers, fax machines, computers, telephones, and two-way radio communication
devises.
- Some officers may be asked to assist in training exercises for company-wide training programs.
- Some officers may be asked to complete extra duties aside from normal shifts.
